Though not featured in Warrior of the Highlands, Castle Sween might have been. It was captured by MacColla in 1644. I had the opportunity to visit the ruins, located on the west coast of Argyll. The perimeter of the castle is still remarkably intact, and I got quite emotional standing on the site of one of MacColla's great victories. Ruins of Castle Dunyveg

A famous Clan Donald stronghold on the coast of Islay. MacColla and his family would've considered this a seat of their clan. The castle was seized by the Covenanters during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms, and given to the Campbells. |
