Best. Television. Ever.Hi all! I just had to share the latest TV show that has me *obsessed*. After years of hearing from all sorts of people how I really needed to watch Battlestar Galactica, a friend finally just foisted the DVD of the first season on us. IT'S AWESOME! If you don't watch it and want to check it out, you really need to start with the 3-hour series premiere. The character development is fantastic and the battles look amazing. You don't even need to be a sci-fi buff to enjoy it! It sucks you right in... Added August 18th, 2008 by veronica

LOL! my sister is addicted to that show, I am addicted to Heros. Nice to know that there are Sci-Fi geeks still around :-D

Oh I am SUCH a total nerdbot when it comes to sci-fi and fantasy. I could rival any thirteen-year-old boy, I tell you... LOL!
— veronica Sat, 11/15/2008 - 9:30am
LOL!! Piers Anthony Fates series was a great read for me, my sister loved the Xanth Series, I also loved his Fractal mode series as well. Yeah I am Dr. Who geek and darn proud of it. See what is with the time travel. LOL I am a time travel addicted.

That's awesome! I've always meant to check out Piers Anthony...I can't believe I haven't yet. Though I do adore me my sci-fi movies, I confess, one of my biggest default comfort reads is anything fantasy... Give me a strapping lad on a quest, any day. LOL.
— veronica Mon, 11/17/2008 - 3:20pm
I have to admit that I'm a huge Sci-fi nerd myself. The few episodes I've seen of Battlestar were good, but it's hard for me to get into a show if I don't see the show from the very beginning. Like my FAVORITE sci-fi series is Stargate SG-1. There was the most fantastic cast, and come on, who can resist Richard Dean Anderson in uniform?? With him as the "star" so to speak, I was hooked from the beginning. I still watch it to this day. :)

Oooh yes - love Stargate SG1, I also liked Stargate Atlantis. I too am a Dr Who tragic (and I adore David Tarrant in the new version). I never really got into the new Battlestar Galactica, but I remember watching the original series as teenager and just loving it (mainly for Dirk Benedict as Starbuck *sigh*). Babylon 5, Farscape, Quantum Leap, Star Trek Next Generation (and Voyager and Deep Space Nine) Andromeda, Lexx - I watched 'em all. Oh no, looking at this - I am such a dag. LOL.
I wish there were more on air - get rid of all those crappy reality shows and give up back some story driven stuff (and then leave it on air for more than only a season or two - Moonlight, anyone?)
— Neeta Thu, 12/04/2008 - 2:59pm
Oh, you can't start mid-series with Battlestar! I tried and hated it. Then someone lent us the series premiere, and I WAS HOOKED! I highly recommend it. Such amazing characters! Any Firefly fans out there? Talk about *sighs*...Nathan Fillion is a Cutie Pie on that show. (Note the capitalization.) :)
— veronica Sat, 12/06/2008 - 5:29pm
OMG, I just found this pic of Nathan Fillion, and he's in a KILT! Jeez, what is it about kilts, I ask you? Anyway, just had to post. ;) This will inspire you to rent Firefly, if you haven't already. (Not that there are any kilts in that show, not by a longshot...)
— veronica Sat, 12/06/2008 - 5:35pm
I have been watching season 1 of The Tudors on DVD since I do not have Showtime. I must say that I LOVED it and have pre ordered season 2. Season 3 will be on air soon and I am almost wanting to pay for Showtime just so I don't have to wait for it to come to DVD.
— Kathy Young Wed, 12/10/2008 - 4:29am
ooh, I've been meaning to check that out! I'll put that at the top of my holiday viewing. I love the whole TV-series-on-DVD phenomenon... Though it can be a dangerous, dangerous thing! LOL.
— veronica Wed, 12/10/2008 - 10:47am
Veronica, I really loved the Todors. Since I finished watching the first season, I can't seem to get it out of my mind. I'm ready to watch it again, lol! But I must also warn you not to watch it with your little ones around. The love/sex scenes are really hot for a TV show. Well it was cable not regular TV.
— Kathy Young Fri, 12/12/2008 - 4:06am
Oh wow, now I *really* want to watch it!! LOL! Thanks for the heads-up. Looking forward to seeing it...
— veronica Sun, 12/14/2008 - 9:02am
I really enjoy watching Fringe and the Eleventh Hour. I think Rufus Sewell is good looking. He plays a bad boy so well, I was excited to see him finally play a good guy.

What is that?! Are those TV shows??
— veronica Wed, 02/11/2009 - 12:58pm
Yes they are, sorry. Fringe is on Tuesday nights and Eleventh Hour is on Thursday nights.

— Sarah Hoss Thu, 02/12/2009 - 5:05am
ooh, I'll have to check them out. In the meantime, I just heard I missed a recent BBC Wuthering Heights that was apparently quite good. Sigh. I seem to always just-miss the great PBS stuff!
— veronica Thu, 02/12/2009 - 1:51pm
OK, what am I to do? We have American Idol on Tues. and Wed. night. Thursday is Survivor and Sunday is Amazing Race. I have never watched so much TV in all of my life!! My poor husband just sighs and walks away!! LOL!!

— Sarah Hoss Mon, 02/16/2009 - 5:57am
I know! Though my problem is that there are all these (very long) things I love and am dying to see, that my husband has NO interest in. He was very...uh...disgruntled recently when *three* Horatio Hornblower DVDs showed up from Blockbuster (and of course we can't get anything else in our queue until I watch them.) Tee hee.
For those of you who might be interested, I really enjoyed the first in that series, by the way!
— veronica Mon, 02/16/2009 - 9:38am
We just watched The Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian. I know, we are behind. Tonight I hope to watch the Changeling with Anjelina Jolie.
I have heard of Horation Hornblower. Will have to check them out!!

You want a good TV show to watch, we enjoy "The Fringe".
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Tue, 05/05/2009 - 9:36am
Sarah, you are so right about The Fringe. This show is so funny and addictive. Walter makes the show. I do like the Stargate shows and can't wait for the newest one. Couldn't really get into watching The Sanctuary though.
Another good show is Criminal Minds. It just amazes me how they are able to get into people's minds to figure out what they are like. Kind of spooky. Plus Morgan is good to look at each week.

I've never heard of The Fringe--is it on regular network TV?
— veronica Wed, 05/06/2009 - 6:38am
Yes, it was on last night after American Idol.

— Sarah Hoss Wed, 05/06/2009 - 9:17am
I can't find where we were having the True Blood discussion! So I'll post it here. We watched the first two episodes last night (they have them for sale on iTunes), and LOVED THEM!! Okay, they're not the books, but it's a great show!
— veronica Wed, 05/20/2009 - 7:06am
am I right about Steven Moyer????? yummmmm.
— pammerjo Wed, 05/20/2009 - 8:09am
Still haven't seen or read, now I am curious!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Wed, 05/20/2009 - 8:58am
TOTALLY right!! I love those smoldery men. And Sarah, I totally recommend reading the books first. They're like little truffles that go down sooooo easy. Try one, and you'll know at once if it's your thing. And, if you don't like 'em, the show is still a great one.
— veronica Wed, 05/20/2009 - 9:34am
OK, I will, I want to add to that the second book in the McCarrick series is much better! I'm enjoying it!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Wed, 05/20/2009 - 3:59pm
I plan on buying the first season of True Blood. Even though I am pissed that they took a lot of liberties with Jason's character but at least it wasn't done in a tacky way. I am excited about season two!!! June 15th ladies! Mark the day.

It's almost enough to get me to re-up my HBO subscription. Though there's some pleasure in just glutting myself on a single show over a short period of time...
— veronica Thu, 05/21/2009 - 11:47am
LOL!! True Blood is the ONLY reason I am keeping HBO right now. I was watching IN Treatment which was very good but after missing so many episodes it was like I missed my therapy session. LOL
~Lizzie
— bttrfly29 Thu, 05/21/2009 - 1:11pm
My library has True Blood and I am hooked. I don't have HBO though,, so will have to wait until they come out with the next season. Umm...*cough*... not what I expected to see, but should have know being HBO.
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Sat, 06/20/2009 - 1:40pm
I LOVE True Blood. Not as good as the books, though! I saw the first episode of season two as a free preview, and am going back and forth as to whether or not to subscribe to HBO just for that show. There's real pleasure in just glutting yourself on an entire season of one show when it hits DVD...
— veronica Mon, 06/22/2009 - 11:45am
I loved watching them like that and I don't have HBO, so I have to wait. BUT, how long am I going to have to wait? That sucks!!! I like Mr. Compton!!!!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Mon, 06/22/2009 - 12:52pm
I KNOW! I keep going back and forth on whether or not to subscribe. Did you know that actor and Anna Paquin are a couple in real life?! I really like him too...he's British, but he totally nails that accent.
— veronica Tue, 06/23/2009 - 2:06pm
they're a couple?? lucky LUCKY anna. Damn he's hot.
— pammerjo Tue, 06/23/2009 - 2:15pm
I didn't know that either, they work, I like it!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Tue, 06/23/2009 - 5:35pm
Totally! Have you heard his British accent? Sooo foxy.
— veronica Wed, 06/24/2009 - 11:19am
I have not. DO we know another movie or something he was in so I can?
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Wed, 06/24/2009 - 12:41pm
I found a bunch of clips of him (procrastinate much?) on YouTube. Interviews, and that sort of thing.
— veronica Thu, 06/25/2009 - 10:31am
Bad girl! Go to the corner this instant. LOL!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Thu, 06/25/2009 - 12:05pm
Tee hee! More like, minimize that window, this instant!
— veronica Fri, 06/26/2009 - 3:33pm
Too funny! Well, I hope you don't start playing Farmtown on Facebook, THAT is addictive!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Fri, 06/26/2009 - 5:36pm
OMG, I haven't let myself do any of those! I'm pretending they don't even exist. *g*
— veronica Sat, 06/27/2009 - 7:30am
Good luck! I wish I had ignored them!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Tue, 06/30/2009 - 3:10pm
I am watching "MONARCH OF THE GLEN". Anyone seen it? Not only am I watching it for fun, but the series is set in and around Newtonmore Scotland which is where my Clan Macpherson hails from in real life. Great for research!
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Thu, 07/16/2009 - 10:29am
Sarah and V why don't you guys just go to the TrueBlood page on Facebook. They post quickie videos all the time. I love Stephen Moyer's accent too. I just read that he was with someone else when he met Anna. Oooo...a cheater! He also has a child by the other woman!
Things come out of the closet! I love Anna Paquin though. I have loved her since I first saw her in The Piano. I just knew she would be a great actress. Anna really has Sookie's accent down. In my head Sookie sounded just like Anna's impression.

Wasn't she in "Fly away home"?
~Sarah~
— Sarah Hoss Sat, 07/18/2009 - 7:20am
Yes, she was. And Lizzie, that site sounds awesome--I'll definitely check it out. As for "Monarch of the Glen," Sarah, that is one of my all-time FAVORITE TV shows!!! Love it! A super cute family member shows up later in the series. Ahem. You have much to look forward to! :)
— veronica Mon, 07/20/2009 - 8:49am
Yes she was in Fly away home, She has done so many movies and I like that she has not been caught up in the child acting mess that so many of these kids go through.
I have never heard of Monarch of the Glen, sounds like something I should be watching.
